Viasit announces record sales

The company has seen growth in both Germany and its International markets and is benefitting from changing office landscape and the growth of its soft seating portfolio.

In the last financial year, ending on 31 March, Viasit’s annual sales increased by 14% to around 33 million Euros. This was announced by managing directors Werner and Thomas Schmeer at the company headquarters in Neunkirchen, Saarland and significantly exceeds the industry average of 4.4% growth in 2018 (IBA Sourced), achieving the highest annual turnover in its history.

Growth drivers were new long-term commitments with major companies at home and Internationally, new licensee partnerships with customers who assemble and market Viasit products (mainly in the USA, Canada and Middle East), and the expansion of the “open space” seating portfolio.

"Our Product offer is being constantly optimised to follow current trends in office furnishing," says Managing Director Thomas Schmeer. "We have created the "Organic" product range in response to the trend for a softer office landscape and alternative work locations such as “home style” offices and co-working spaces. Organic offers optimally designed seating for quiet areas, communication zones and mobile work spaces which help to subdivide the look and functionality of open office landscapes, and is the perfect extension to our design-oriented, ergonomic chairs for all areas of application in the office."

Viasit proudly counts nine DAX 30 listed companies among its clients. The ergonomic and sustainably produced seating from Neunkirchen in Saarland is also very popular amongst public-sector clients.

Viasit International, based in London, has seen 3 years of continuous significant growth culminating with a 27% increase in the UK and Irish Market during 2018 – despite the threat of Brexit which is darkening the economic mood. The largest export market is France, followed by the Benelux countries, Austria and the UK. Viasit's Export sales in the financial year represent approximately 41% of turnover.

25 new jobs were created this year as a result of business growth, mainly in final assembly, but also in logistics, where Viasit is increasingly opting for its own fleet of vehicles. With 2018/19 in mind Viasit has undertaken internal digitisation and process optimisation projects in production and logistics. These measures have allowed output to increase by more than a month's production (around 12%) compared to the previous year.

The outlook for 2019/20 is just as good: "We are entering the new year with our market-driven product range, efficient production and logistics structures, great long-standing relationships with our specialist trade partners and a powerful sales team. We therefore assume that we can once again top this result in the next year," says Managing Director Werner Schmeer, optimistically.
