Viasit was EMAS re-certified

The office furniture manufacturer's production and logistics meet increasingly stringent environmental requirements.

 

Viasit Bürositzmöbel GmbH recently successfully completed the audit for recertification according to EMAS, the "Eco-Management and Audit Scheme", for its company headquarters and only production site in Neunkirchen. 

EMAS was developed by the European Union and is a joint system of environmental management and environmental auditing for organisations that want to improve their environmental performance. EMAS is the world's most demanding system for sustainable environmental management.

Viasit was EMAS-certified for the first time in 2017 and to date is one of only seven office seating manufacturers in Germany to be listed in the central EMAS register.

An essential aspect of EMAS is that companies set themselves concrete targets for improving their environmental performance, the achievement of which is made transparent to the interested public in the annual environmental statement.

Last year, for example, Viasit was able to increase energy efficiency in production and logistics (measured as energy consumption in relation to output volume), increase the rate of separate collection of waste and sustainably reduce the use of packaging materials - without compromising delivery quality. 
A further key environmental goal, the achievement of which is documented in the Environmental Statement, is to increase the share of renewable energies in total energy consumption.
